Duncansville man accused of raping child

Police say Wheeler raped, molested girl from ages 7 to 14

A Duncansville man faces 19 charges, including at least 11 felonies, for allegedly raping and sexually molesting a child for a number of years beginning in 2006 in Cresson Township, Cambria County.

Chris D. Wheeler, 45, of 528 Cozy Corner Circle, Duncansville, is accused of forcing the girl into unwanted sexual situations beginning when she was 7 years old and ending in 2014 when she was 14.

The girl was interviewed by authorities late last month. She said Wheeler used to watch her in the shower, grope her and force her to watch pornography and touch him sexually, according to a criminal complaint filed by Cresson Township police.

The girl told police Wheeler also raped her, according to the complaint, which shows the girl was allegedly assaulted multiple times.

Once when Wheeler was touching the girl as she showered, he “threatened that he would kill her mother or hurt her siblings if she mentioned what was happening,” the girl told police, according to the complaint.

The girl also reported another incident when she was showering behind a locked door.

Officers said the girl reported that Wheeler unlocked the door and entered the room “completely naked.”

Wheeler then allegedly entered the shower — despite the girl’s protests — and touched the girl until she began to cry, according to the complaint.

The girl told police Wheeler began showing her pornography when she was 10 years old, officers said.

Police said the girl reported that Wheeler would touch her and masturbate as they watched videos on his laptop.

The complaint describes a number of similar alleged assaults involving pornography and masturbation, as well as other unwanted sexual activity.

Police also noted additional reports that Wheeler made threats against the girl’s family members, including an incident in the girl’s bedroom.

“She was in her bedroom, where her younger sibling was sleeping,” police wrote. “(Wheeler) came to her bedroom and whispered to her, ‘If you say anything, I’ll kill your brother.'”

The girl told police Wheeler raped her after making that threat, telling her: “Let me be your first,” according to the complaint.

Numerous other alleged assaults were listed in the complaint, including forced touching and forced oral sex.

“When she wouldn’t do it or wouldn’t do it as (Wheeler) wanted, he would pull her hair and become physical toward her,” police wrote in the complaint. “One time she described (Wheeler) became physically violent dragging her across the bed by her hair.”

The girl told officers Wheeler often gave her and her siblings alcohol, and she reported Wheeler used to chase them with a knife, trap them in a closet and hit them with a wet towel, according to the complaint.

Wheeler was arraigned Thursday evening before Magisterial District Judge John Prebish Jr. He posted 10 percent of $150,000 bail on Friday, online court documents showed.

He faces felony charges of rape, rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault, sexual assault, disseminating sexual material to a minor and endangering the welfare of a child, as well as others. He also faces numerous related misdemeanor charges.

He is to appear at 1 p.m. Aug. 22 for a preliminary hearing before Prebish, online court documents said.
