Bellefonte man facing murder charges

SNOW SHOE — A 37-year-old Bellefonte man is facing murder and related charges after state police accused him of gunning down a northern Centre County man whose body was found Friday on the driveway outside his residence.

State police at Rockview said Saturday that Matthew Dreibelbis confessed to the shooting of Jeremy D. Cantolina, 38, 211 Moshannon St., Snow Shoe, when Cantolina was attempting to leave for work.

When state police responded to the victim’s residence for a report of an unconscious male, Snow Shoe fire and ambulance personnel were already on-site performing life-saving measures.

State police said Saturday that their investigation led them to Dreibelbis who admitted to the shooting and to having had a sexual relationship with Cantolina’s wife for 3 1/2 years.

Dreibelbis is charged with first-degree murder, third-degree murder, aggravated assault, simple assault and possessing instruments of crime.

Online court documents show that Dreibelbis remains in Centre County Prison, pending arraignment Monday and a preliminary hearing on Aug. 23.
