Altoona woman killed in motorcycle accident

Police say vehicle collided with deer

An Altoona woman was killed and a man was injured when a motorcycle collided with a deer Friday in Frankstown Township.

The collision occurred as Misty A. Aman, 37, of Altoona rode as a passenger on a Kawasaki Ninja 600 motorcycle driven Michael P. Feathers, 29, of Claysburg, according to a state police information release.

Feathers drove the motorcycle east on Scotch Valley Road and struck a deer about 541 feet west of Quarry Drive, the release said.

Both Aman and Feathers were injured as a result of the crash.

Aman later died at the scene.

The release said Feathers was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, but Aman did not use safety equipment. Feathers suffered only minor injuries, according to the release.

The release does not include the time of the crash.

Messages left with several local emergencies agencies were not returned over the weekend.
