Woman accused of strangulation

A city woman faces a felony strangulation charge over allegations she assaulted and choked her fiancee.

Danielle M. Kuny, 25, of 2700 Eighth Ave., was arrested late Tuesday by Altoona police who responded to a home on the 100 block of Lloyd Street over a domestic violence call about 9 p.m.

According to charges filed before Magisterial District Judge Jeffrey Auker, Kuny is accused of throwing her girlfriend on the bed and squeezing her arms, grabbing her hair and slamming her head off the bed repeatedly. Kuny the grabbed the woman’s throat and started choking her, the alleged victim told Altoona police at Conemaugh Nason Medical Center, Roaring Spring, after the incident.

During the alleged assault, the woman was telling Kuny she was hurting her but Kuny wouldn’t stop until the woman agreed to stop “hanging out with certain people,” police noted in the charges.

Kuny allegedly told the woman that because she was her fiancee, she would kill the woman before she left.

Police said the woman had visible bruises on her upper right arm and throat.

Kuny told police she only grabbed her girlfriend’s face and told her “please stop” and that she held the alleged victim down in order to calm her down.

Kuny is charged with felony strangulation along with a misdemeanor count of simple assault. She was arraigned Wednesday morning by Magisterial District Judge Paula Aigner and released on an unsecured $10,000 bond.
