Tipton man takes plea agreement

Taylor fined, sees most serious charges dropped

HOLLIDAYSBURG — A Tipton man was fined $200 on charges of disorderly conduct and harassment by a Blair County judge Friday after prosecutors agreed to dismiss more serious offenses of robbery, receiving stolen property and stalking, all stemming from an incident in Tyrone a month ago.

Blair County Assistant District Attorney Ilissa Zimmerman outlined the plea agreement when the defendant, Kevin Lloyd Taylor, 62, of 214 Kingdom St., appeared before Judge Wade Kagarise late Friday morning.

Taylor, and a friend, David W. Elensky, 67, came to court to be arraigned on the more serious charges that were filed after the two men allegedly forced a third man, who lived at the same Kingdom Street address, into a car and took two knives and a bottle of pills from him on March 13.

A witness told Tyrone police that Taylor “wrestled” the victim toward a car that had pulled alongside the victim as he walked north on Pennsylvania Avenue after filling a prescription for oxycodone pills at a nearby pharmacy.

The witness said Elensky helped Taylor throw the man into the car.

Taylor and Elensky announced at their arraignment that they had come to an agreement to resolve the case.

Zimmerman told Kagarise she was recommending all charges against Elensky be dismissed and then indicated the most serious charges against Taylor were to be dropped.

Taylor said he was willing to enter a plea to the lesser charges of disorderly conduct and harassment.

Kagarise fined him $100 for each offense.
