Sheetz expanding workforce by adding 3,400 employees

Full-time, part-time positions available

Sheetz plans to bolster its workforce with the addition of 3,400 employees.

The Altoona-based company, now in its 65th year of operation, announced Monday that it will hold open interviews for full-time and part-time positions starting Wednesday at all of its 550 locations.

The hiring initiative aims to increase Sheetz’s total employee count and number of full-time positions by creating and filling jobs at stores throughout Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, Ohio and North Carolina, according to Sheetz vice president of human resources, Stephanie Doliveira.

“We are excited to welcome new employees into the Sheetz family,” she said. “Our employees are our most valuable asset, and we’re deeply committed to investing in our people.”

Company President Joe Sheetz called Wednesday “one of the biggest single (hiring) days, if not the biggest,” in the company’s history.

Doliveira said Sheetz offers competitive pay and benefits packages, including medical and dental insurance, a 401(k) retirement plan, college tuition reimbursement, an employee stock ownership plan, opportunities for advancement and flexible schedules and, “most importantly, a clear path to growth with the support network to achieve.”

Joe Sheetz added, “Historically, we do quite of bit of hiring this time of year heading into our busy summer season.”

Founded by Bob Sheetz in 1952, Sheetz employs more than 17,500 employees and reaped $5.6 billion in revenue in 2016.

Sheetz has been recognized by Fortune Magazine as one of the 100 best companies to work.
