Job fair set for people with criminal records

HOLLIDAYSBURG — The Blair County Adult Parole and Probation Office has 21 employers and resource agencies signed up to participate in a job fair on Wednesday for those with criminal records.

The office, which hosted this job fair for the first time last year, was pleased with the reaction and decided to do it again, said Kelsey Renz, lead case manager for the county parole and probation office.

This year’s event is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Jaffa Shrine Center, 2200 Broad Ave.

Tables will be set up to accommodate the participating employers and agencies.

Job seekers should show up property attired, with resumes they can distribute or with information that would be helpful when completing a job application, Renz advised.

Last year’s event drew about 100 job seekers who had a chance to speak with potential employers about job opportunities. They also had a chance to learn more about job training skills and local resources.

This year’s participants include American Customer Care, Blair Companies, Express Employment Professionals, HH Brown, Subway, Champion Home Builders, Lowe’s, Pennsylvania Highlands, G&R Excavating, US Foods, LS Fiore, Motel 6, CareerLink, Cenclear, Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, Pyramid, RGIS, Gardner’s Candies of Tyrone, Hometown Market, YTI and Manpower.
