PSU Altoona hosting MLK Jr. luncheon

J.T. Thomas will be the keynote speaker at Penn State Altoona’s eighth annual Martin Luther King Jr. reflection luncheon  at noon Monday in the Adler gymnasium.

As Florida State’s first black football player, Thomas blocked two field goals in his first game in 1970.

He was a first team All-American pick by Pro Football Weekly and Time Magazine as a senior in 1972. The following year, he was the No. 1 draft pick of the Pittsburgh Steelers and became part of the legendary Steel Curtain defense that helped the team win four Super Bowls.

Registration for the luncheon can be found at http://www.altoona.psu.edu/oied/mlk–register.php online.

The luncheon is sponsored by the Office of Institutional Equity, Diversity, and International Student Services.

It is free and open to the public.
