Former PSU player sentenced for assault

Wilkerson must register as sex offender

A former Penn State football player must register as a sex offender for 25 years following a Tuesday sentencing for indecent assault and harassment.

Brent Wilkerson, 22, was sentenced on charges stemming from an incident in early February, when a woman told police he assaulted her, according to a release from the Centre County district attorney’s office.

According to the release, the woman, a group of friends and Wilkerson visited several bars in State College, and the woman, who was sober, offered to drive Wilkerson and his roommate to their apartment.

However, when they arrived at the apartment, Wilkerson refused to leave the vehicle, sayinging he wanted to accompany the woman to make sure she got home safe, the release said.

When they arrived at the woman’s home, Wilkerson “pushed” her upstairs to her bedroom and fell asleep on her bed despite being told he could not stay there, the release said.

The woman eventually got into the bed and fell asleep, later waking up as Wilkerson grabbed, touched and kissed her body without consent, according to the release.

The woman asked him to stop, but he grabbed her neck and continued to kiss her, according to the release, which also said bruises were visible on the woman’s neck when she visited police.

Wilkerson did not have sex with the woman but performed a sex act on himself while pressed against her, the release said. Later, he sent her a text message to apologize, according to the release.

Wilkerson was sentenced Tuesday before Judge Jonathan D. Grine.
