Tyrone Area School Board approves hiring 10 staffers

TYRONE – The Tyrone Area School Board voted to approve several new hires for the upcoming school year at its meeting Tuesday night.

The district hired both full-time teachers and long-term substitutes on Tuesday. All of the positions will have a salary of $41,280 and full benefits.

Angela Kwacz of Richboro will become the district’s art teacher, and Amy Lewis of Tyrone will join the elementary teaching staff. Lisa Treese of Duncansville will serve as a yearlong substitute for the preschool program, and Jenna Wray of Tyrone will spend the year with the sixth grade.

The school board also approved the hires of six new paraprofessionals for the coming year. All of those support staff members will make $8.59 an hour, working five days a week for six hours a day. The position includes 10 sick days and two personal days.

Megan Anderson of Tyrone; Tammy Harmon of Tyrone; Ashley Wilkinson of Tyrone; Misti Connelly of Tyrone; Megan Sciarrillo of Altoona; and Janice Strauss of Warriors Mark, will join the support staff.
