Kettle Streetpaving to begin

New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co. Inc. will begin work Monday on the Kettle Street resurfacing project in Altoona and Logan and Blair townships, PennDOT said.

Work will consist of the milling and resurfacing of about nine miles of roadway between Pleasant Valley Boulevard and Golf Course Road. Additional work on this project consists of pipe replacements and guardrail upgrades.

Traffic will be reduced to a single lane and will be controlled by flaggers during work hours.

All work on this $2.5 million project will be completed by Nov. 25.

The half-mile detour uses Ida and Beech streets. The closure and detour will be in effect until mid-November.

Overall work includes replacement of the bridge superstructure, approach work, minor drainage improvements, and guardrail improvements on Ida and Beech streets.

The contractor for this $293,000 job is Wen-Brook Contracting Inc. of Three Springs.
