Police arrest man for allegedly growing pot

An Altoona man faces felony and misdemeanor charges after a visit by a state parole officer allegedly turned up marijuana plants.

Terry R. Leonard, 34, of 1407 Washington Ave., Apt. B, was taken into custody Wednesday by Altoona police who were called to the apartment after Leonard’s parole officer found a small pot growing operation, police said.

Leonard had about 11 plants, all in one pot, in an incubator on the second floor. Police said they found Leonard’s light set-up, soil, fertilizer and seeds, as well as a manual on growing pot.

Leonard remains in Blair County Prison after his arraignment by Magisterial District Judge Paula Aigner, who set bail at $50,000 cash. A preliminary hearing at Central Court before Magisterial District Judge Todd Kelly is slated for Wednesday.
