New Claysburg-Kimmel handbook to update dress code
CLAYSBURG – The Claysburg-Kimmel School Board is set to vote next week on a new high school student handbook, following neighboring districts in banning popular but revealing clothes in an updated dress code.
Among the proposed handbook’s new policies -which also include a streamlined absence policy – are bans on tight leggings worn as pants. Administrators at other area districts, including Spring Cove, have debated precise definitions in recent months while addressing fashion trends.
“These are the tight, tight pants girls wear,” High School Principal Michael O’Dellick said. “I don’t know how else to explain it.”
The board is set to vote on the new handbook, as well as policies for teachers, at its meeting Wednesday.
