Hollidaysburg man accused of selling bath salts

A Hollidaysburg man is in custody after allegedly selling bath salts to a police informant.

Altoona police, along with officers with the Blair County Drug Task Force, arrested Michael Lee Forshey, 33, at his 112 Jones Street home in Hollidaysburg on Tuesday night as Forshey tried to flee out the back door, according to police.

Police, including officers with Hollidaysburg Borough, Blair County District Attorney’s Office and the state Attorney General, moved in on Forshey’s home after an alleged buy of $50 worth of MDPV, also known as bath salts about 7 p.m.

Apart from the half gram Forshey allegedly sold to the informant, police also recovered about 10.9 grams of suspected bath salts in the basement of the home. The suspected bath salts were found in a back pack, police said, along with a large amount of packaging material, a digital scale, syringes and glass pipes.

Officers also found $90, including $50 used in the police buy, on the basement floor.

Forshey was arraigned Wednesday morning by Magisterial District Judge Craig Ormsby and lodged in Blair County Prison in lieu of $40,000 cash bail. A preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Paula Aigner is slated for Aug. 19.
