Police: Woman stole $20 worth of curtains

An Altoona woman faces felony charges after police in Logan Township say she stole $20 worth of flowered curtains.

Christina Marie Schleich, 36, of 823 Rosehill Drive was arrested Thursday evening at Gabriel Brothers, 516 West Plank Road, after a store employee watched her steal four sets of curtains, valued at $4.99 each, according to court records.

Schleich has been convicted of felony retail theft five times and arrested on the charge a dozen times since 2002, according to police and online court records.

Schleich was convicted of felony retail thefts three times in 2010 and twice in 2012 and is currently serving four years probation, her arrest papers show.

Along with the felony retail theft charge connected to Thursday’s alleged incident at Gabriel Brothers, Schleich was charged with misdemeanor criminal trespass. Police said Gabriel Brothers served Schleich with a no trespass notice after her arrest there for retail theft in August 2010.

Magisterial District Judge Fred Miller set bail at 10 percent of $15,000, and Schleich was placed in Blair County Prison to await her preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Steven Jackson on Thursday.
