Police say suspect turned on fire hydrant

From Mirror staff reports

BEDFORD – State Police at Bedford are searching for the culprits who opened a Bedford Township fire hydrant, flooding 200,000 gallons of water before authorities shut it off.

In a report, police said someone opened the hydrant along Enterprise Lane in the Bedford County Business Park sometime Sunday evening.

Water flowed from the hydrant for hours, police said, and stopped only after water authority crews arrived.

Police have asked anyone with information to call the Bedford barracks at 623-6133.
