Police: Men fell 9 feet during fight
A Roaring Spring man pushed another man off a raised landing Saturday during an argument in Manns Choice, while his hands were wrapped around the alleged victim’s throat, state police at Bedford said.
Police said Matthew Ryan Burket, 22, of Roaring Spring, was arguing with a 22-year-old Duncansville man along South Mill Street in Manns Choice when the dispute turned physical.
Burket grabbed the other man by the throat, police said, and pushed him into a railing on a raised landing. The railing broke, and the pair fell 9 feet.
Burket kept choking the victim as they struggled on the ground, stopping only when witnesses pulled him away, police said.
Shawnee Valley emergency workers took the victim to UPMC Altoona; Burket left the scene, police said.
On Monday, a UPMC Altoona representative said the victim wasn’t listed as a patient.
The extent of his injuries wasn’t clear.
Police said Burket was charged with simple assault at Magisterial District Judge Tonya Osman’s office. Charges and court documents weren’t available online Tuesday afternoon.
