Police: Man harassed woman at bar
A Tyrone man faces charges after police say he accosted a woman at a local bar.
Matthew Scott Miller, 36, 103 Ninth St., Apt. 2, was arrested about 11:20 p.m. Saturday on Washington Avenue near Fourth Street by Tyrone police, who had been called to The Bull Pen Restaurant after Miller initially refused to leave the bar.
According to police, Miller allegedly was intoxicated and continually harassed a woman patron, at one point following her to the bathroom and cornering her when she tried to return to her table.
Police said Miller also put his hands on the woman and kissed her and refused repeated attempts by staff and patrons to get him to leave.
Police said the girl’s father even talked to Miller, who had been denied further alcohol purchases by the bartenders. Miller left briefly and returned before shouting a racial slur at a black customer, police added.
Miller was ultimately escorted from the bar by several patrons minutes before police arrived. He was found staggering a short distance away, police said.
Miller remains free on an unsecured $10,000 bond and is charged with misdemeanor indecent assault, disorderly conduct and criminal trespass, as well as summary counts of harassment and public drunkenness.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 19 at Tyrone’s District Court.
