Coroner: Death likely suicide

DANVILLE (AP) – A coroner in central Pennsylvania says the death of a man run over by a train near a festival to celebrate the region’s role in early development of the rail system appears to be suicide.

The Bloomsburg Press Enterprise said the 21-year-old man died Saturday morning in Danville, a block away from the town’s Iron Heritage Festival.

The paper says bystanders and riders on a train headed to Bloomsburg called 911 to say someone had thrown himself under a train.

Coroner Scott Lynn tells the paper officials are still investigating but it appears to be a case of suicide.
