Community Days continues
DUNCANSVILLE – The Duncansville Community Days celebration, which opened Thursday night at Memorial Park, will continue through Saturday when it caps off with a fireworks show.
As part of this year’s “Salute to Troops” theme, patrons are asked to bring personal care items for a collection to homeless veterans.
“We wanted to give back a little more this year, so we came up with that theme and decided to ask for the donations,” said Councilwoman Jeanette Mills, one of the coordinators for this year’s event.
In addition to food and game booths set up by local organizations and churches, tonight’s activities include a 6:30 p.m. dedication ceremony for the Duncansville Area Patriots Memorial, located on the ballfield side of the park at the new flag memorial behind Sunbrook Manor apartments.
The memorial is an Eagle Scout project by Matt Delozier.
Saturday’s events include a community yard sale, starting at 8 a.m., followed by a chicken barbeque sale starting at 11 a.m.
Food and game booths will open at 4 p.m., the Horseshoe Cloggers will perform at 6 p.m. and music, provided by Rock & Roll Express, begins at 7 p.m. Fireworks are scheduled for 10 p.m.
