Tyrone Hospital to expand, create regional health network
TYRONE — Tyrone Hospital has announced this morning the creation of the Tyrone Regional Health Network, which will bring more specialists to the hospital.
Hospital officials also announced 32,000-square-foot expansion to its main building, to revamp its emergency department and add new outpatient rooms.
“We’ve been working for this day for the past five years,” said Hospital CEO Steve Gildea.
Local partners in the network include the Northern Blair County Rec Center, Mount Nittany Medical Center, the Allegheny Health Network and Blair Medical Associates, among a slew of others.
The Tyrone Hospital Foundation also launched today a capital gains project to raise 10 percent of the funds needed for the addition, which will cost $20 million total.
Gildea said the rest of the funds will come from a variety of sources, including bank loans and possible grant funding.
