Man pleads guilty to child porn possession

HOLLIDAYSBURG – A Hollidaysburg man has pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography charges filed after state investigators found multiple video files on his computer.

Jason W. Solt, 32, was arrested in June 2013 after agents from the state Attorney General’s Child Predator Unit managed to download five videos from Solt’s computer, set up to allow file sharing, and to pinpoint the location of Solt’s computer at his Hollidaysburg residence.

Those videos, according to the investigating agents, showed children, between 9 and 14 years old, engaged in various sex acts. Agents also noted in the charges that there were as many as 56 files on the computer that they deemed as suspicious.

Solt, who remains free on $100,000 cash bail, as posted by a bail bondsman, entered his plea Friday morning at the Blair County Courthouse.

Senior Judge Hiram A. Carpenter accepted the plea and agreed to defer sentencing for about three months.

That should be enough time, Carpenter estimated, for a presentence investigation to be completed, in addition to a sexual offenders assessment evaluation.

Attorney Robert Donaldson, who represented Solt, and attorney Christopher Jones, representing the state Attorney General’s Office, agreed that sentencing should remain on hold, pending both reports.

Donaldson said Solt completed a guilty plea document on Wednesday, with the intent of entering Friday’s plea.

Agents from the state Attorney General’s Office, after downloading the pornographic videos, worked with Atlantic Broadband to identify the computer’s location. After a search of his residence, Solt was arrested at work.
