Man killed clearing brush near power line
GREENFIELD TOWNSHIP – A 20-year-old man working for Davey Tree Expert Co. died in an all-terrain vehicle accident while clearing brush around power lines.
Blair County Coroner Patricia Ross declared the man dead at the scene Monday afternoon in a field on Knob Run Road.
Ross did not release the man’s name but said he was not local. Davey trucks and vehicles with decals reading Kent, Ohio, lined Knob Road as well as Greenfield Township Police vehicles.
Workers appeared to be in shock that a co-worker and friend died while performing his job.
One worker sat on the ground with his hands on his hard hat.
It was a worker who called emergency responders. Neighbors said help arrived quickly, within five minutes of the call.
Greenfield Township Police Chief Ronald Givler said the deceased man was the only person in the vehicle when it rolled over.
Calls to the Davey Tree Expert Co. were not returned on Monday.
