CVS robbery suspect in jail
A Beaver County man wanted by police for the attempted hold-up of a city pharmacy is in custody in Ohio.
Police in Independence, Ohio, arrested Jason Douglas Emmett, 30, of Freedom, Friday morning outside a hotel, according to Altoona police Detective Cpl. Marshall Worling.
Emmett is accused of pulling out a handgun and demanding drugs at CVS Pharmacy, 200 E. Plank Road, early on the afternoon of May 21. Police said Emmett gave the cashier a list of drugs he wanted, but the pharmacist refused and Emmett left without incident, and without the list. Police were able to lift a fingerprint from that piece of paper and identify him as a suspect.
Worling said Friday that police tracked Emmett to the hotel through his cell phone and notified police in Independence, who then took him into custody on a fugitive from justice warrant.
Emmett was in the process of checking out of the hotel and was driving a rented pick-up truck when he was arrested, police said. Emmett remains in custody in Ohio, and police said Friday it was unknown whether Emmett would waive extradition proceedings before his return to Blair County to face attempted robbery and gun-related charges.
Emmett’s attorney, Nicholas A. Frisk III of Ellwood City, did not return a call for comment.
