Second Mile asks to transfer money to ministry for programs

STATE COLLEGE – The charity for troubled youths started by convicted pedophile Jerry Sandusky sought permission Friday to transfer more money to a Texas ministry that took over some of its programs.

The Second Mile wants to give an additional $300,000 to Houston-based Arrow Family and Child Ministries. Arrow received $200,000 last year. The petition was filed in Centre County court, the Centre Daily Times reported.

In 2013, Arrow successfully operated some former Second Mile programs, such as Friend and Friend Fitness and a Leadership Quest Conference, according to the filing. But Arrow’s new fundraising efforts have lagged.

The Second Mile also wants to give its endowment fund to Arrow.
