Police: City man sexually assaulted woman at park
An Altoona man faces felony charges of rape and kidnapping after he allegedly forced a woman from a party for sex.
Henry C. Agnew, 33, of 417 22nd Ave. was brought back Friday from Butler County Prison, where he was being held on a state probation violation, to face charges that he forced a woman into his vehicle April 19 before sexually assaulting her at a city park.
According to charges filed by Altoona police, Agnew pushed and shoved the woman, grabbing her shoulders and hair, as he forced her into his vehicle and drove off during a party at a home on the 1100 block of 18th Avenue.
Police allege Agnew took the woman’s cellphone and drove her to a Sheetz store on East 25th Avenue, where he then tried to get her to buy condoms about 3:30 a.m. When she refused, Agnew walked into the store and bought a box of Durex XXL condoms, took them out of the box and told the clerk that he had met the woman on Facebook.
Agnew allegedly giggled before leaving the store, and once back in the car, Agnew is accused of forcing the woman to perform oral sex. Police contend Agnew held the woman down until she bit him.
After driving to a ballfield on 25th Avenue, Agnew allegedly raped the woman, police claim.
Police indicated the woman tried to fight off Agnew and screamed for him to stop and that he pulled her hair so hard he ripped some of it from her scalp.
Police said when Agnew finished assaulting the woman, he took her back to the party where she told other people what had happened, resulting in an argument between Agnew and others.
Agnew was taken to Central Booking Friday afternoon to await arraignment by the on-call magisterial district judge.
