HOLLIDAYSBURG – Blair County commissioners provided framed resolutions Tuesday to a pair of retiring employees.

James R. DiFrancesco was recognized for seven years of service as chief public defender, a role DiFrancesco has held since Feb. 20, 2007.

Senior Judge Hiram A. Carpenter, President Judge Jolene G. Kopriva, Judges Elizabeth Doyle and Tim Sullivan and District Attorney Richard Consiglio attended the presentation and praised DiFrancesco during the weekly commissioners meeting.

DiFrancesco’s cooperation has been an important part of making the court system work, Consiglio said.

“Although you’re on the opposite side … without some sort of cooperation, it doesn’t work,” Consiglio said before embracing DiFrancesco and shaking his hand.

DiFrancesco was effective at helping everyone remember the rights of the defendants, Kopriva said.

Commissioners Chair-

man Terry Tomassetti read the resolution, recognizing DiFrancesco’s legal career spanning more than 50 years and how Blair County benefited from that expertise.

Commissioners also honored Cynthia J. Pletcher, secretary to Chief Probation Officer Nancy Williams, who worked 30 years for the county. Pletcher was honored by her department with the 2013 Raising the Bar Award.

She also received the Juvenile Court Support Service Award in 2000, presented by the Pennsylvania Council of Chief Juvenile Probation Officers and the Pennsylvania Juvenile Court Judges’ Com-
