CERT classes to begin at Tyrone Hospital

Those interested in learning how to be prepared for an emergency can sign up for a series of free Community Emergency Response Team classes, starting Tuesday night at the Tyrone Hospital.

The Blair County Local Emergency Planning Committee and the Emergency Management Agency are presenting free classes that will continue Thursday and on May 13, 15 and 20. All classes are scheduled from 6 to 10 p.m. at the hospital, 187 Hospital Drive. Participants who attend all classes will receive a backpack kit with equipment to provide assistance in an emergency.

Those who cannot attend classes at the hospital can consider Saturday classes, starting Saturday and continuing on May 17 and 24 at the Blair County 911 Center, 615 Fourth St. Instruction will be provided from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m on Wednesday and Saturday and from noon to 4 p.m. on May 24.
