Police: Suspect stole 65 packs of cigarettes from Dollar General Store

TYRONE – A burglar smashed the glass out of a Tyrone store’s front door before making off with dozens of packs of cigarettes Friday morning, according to police.

It was 2:51 a.m. when an unknown male kicked in the front door to the Dollar General Store, 5510 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., and slipped into the building through a hole in the glass, Tyrone police report.

Chief John Romeo said 65 packs of Newport cigarettes were stolen. The burglar ran north toward Tyrone after leaving the store, police said.

Police released video surveillance photos from the break-in showing a man in a black, hooded “Southside” sweatshirt and jeans. Police indicated he stands about 5-foot-5 and is thin.
