Police arrest 2 on heroin charges

Two men were arrested on heroin charges Monday after their car was stopped in Altoona.

Hollidaysburg state police said they received information Monday that James L. Walker, 31, 209 Lloyd St., was going to make a run to Pittsburgh to pick up heroin and that Trevon Q. Heaster, 23, Shirleysburg, was transporting him in a 2004 gold Chevrolet Malibu.

State police and Altoona police set up surveillance in the city.

About 12:30 p.m., officers observed Heaster pick up Walker and followed them out of the city and onto Route 22 west.

The surveillance was discontinued at the Cresson exit and then was resumed on Route 22 about 3:30 p.m., at which time Walker and Heaster were located in the car traveling east on Route 22.

Officers then followed the car to Lloyd Street and East Second Avenue, at which time it was stopped by state police, Logan Township police and Altoona police at about 4 p.m. due to the fact there was an arrest warrant out of Huntingdon County for Walker.

Once the vehicle was stopped, Walker was removed and placed under arrest on the warrant. Walker was searched at that time, and 33 packs of suspected heroin were found in his right pants pocket, police said. Officers also said they observed 212 packs of suspected heroin in plain view on the floor beside the passenger

seat where the door was opened.

Walker and Heaster were then taken into custody and taken to Blair County central booking and arraigned on charges of possession with the intent to deliver heroin, possession of heroin and criminal conspiracy, police said.

The approximate street value of the heroin was $6,125, police said.
