2-4 inches of snow expected in area tonight and Saturday
The National Weather Service in State College has issued a winter weather advisory for our region of Pennsylvania, with a prediction of a possible 2-4 inches of additional snow.
The advisory covers from 9 p.m. Friday to 4 p.m. Saturday, with most of the snowfall expected between 3 and 9 a.m. Saturday.
The Weather Service said a a storm system is expected to bring a light to moderate snowfall to the southern half of central Pennsylvania late tonight and Saturday.
The advisory states a storm over Missouri early Friday will pass through southern Virginia late tonight and off the mid-Atlantic coast during the day Saturday. The potential exists for several inches of snow mainly south of I-80.
Snow will move into the Laurel Highlands later this evening and will spread eastward through Saturday morning.
Most of the snow will fall between approximately 3 and 9 a.m. before tapering to scattered snow showers by early Saturday afternoon. North winds of 5 to 15 mps with gusts up to 25 mph will create some blowing and drifting of the snow.
