Coroner: Hunter’s death an accident

From Mirror staff reports

SIDMAN – Cambria County Coroner Dennis Kwiatkowski said Timothy Bruce, 41, of Ashville died Saturday afternoon after another man shot him accidentally while they were hunting with a group.

Bruce was pronounced dead at 4:41 p.m. after another member of his nine-person hunting party accidentally shot him with a deer rifle along the 400 block of Seesetown Road in Adams Township, Kwiatkowski said.

An autopsy performed Sunday morning revealed the death was accidental, the result of a gunshot wound to the abdomen, he said.

Bruce was shot by “another person in hunting party when some deer went between the two of them,” he said.

Adams Township Police officials were unavailable for comment Sunday evening.

Cambria 911 officials said Saturday the emergency call came in around 3:30 p.m. A medical helicopter also was called in to assist, but was canceled when the coroner’s office was called just after 4 p.m.

Kwiatkowski said he didn’t know of any funeral plans as of Sunday.
