Man arrested for allegedly firing a shot at residence

Tyrone police arrested a 38-year-old Tyrone man Saturday evening for allegedly firing a shot at a borough house from a vehicle.

Shaun Page was driving on the 1800 block of Columbia Avenue when he fired a small-caliber handgun about 10 p.m., according to a police news release.

The mother of a juvenile passenger in the vehicle notified police, who found the van Page had been driving on the 10 block of East 16th Street.

A tip while searching that area led them to a nearby house, where they found Page, who reached for a small white container, under which was a loaded 0.22-caliber handgun, according to the news release.

That gun turned out to have been stolen from an Altoona house, according to the news release.

They charged Page with risking a catastrophe, reckless endangerment, a firearms violation, receiving stolen property and corruption of minors.

Police said they don’t know whether the bullet actually hit the house.

Page remained in Blair County Prison as of Sunday evening in lieu of $50,000 straight bail.

Late on Saturday, neighbors near the 1800 block of Columbia Avenue said they’d heard what they thought were the sounds of firecrackers when a car drove by earlier in the evening than the time cited by police in the news release, but otherwise were aware of no disturbance.
