Shopping trip ends with stabbing

A shopping trip ended with an argument over a bag of clothes and a stabbing, according to Logan Township police.

Donna J. Boore, 32, formerly of the 400 block of Eldon Avenue, Lakemont, is accused of stabbing another woman, a neighbor, after the pair went shopping Oct. 6 at Macy’s at the Logan Valley Mall, where Boore borrowed $540.49 from the neighbor and bought clothes, police said.

The neighbor told police she loaned Boore the money with the agreement Boore would pay her back when they returned from the mall, but once back at the victim’s house, Boore allegedly tried to take off with the merchandise without paying.

After a brief struggle, Boore, who lived next door, was able to get away with a bag of clothes, police said. The neighbor followed, and as she approached the porch of Boore’s home, the door to the house “flung open and Boore stabbed her in the right forearm area with a knife,” police noted in the affidavit of probable cause filed in the case.

After the stabbing, the woman ran home and had a friend call 911, police said. Responding police reported a blood trail from Boore’s home to her neighbor’s residence and damage to Boore’s front screen door. Boore, however, was gone. Police ultimately made contact with Boore, who is now in the State Correctional Institution at Muncy on a parole violation, but she claimed the neighbor just showed up at her house and demanded money. Boore also denied the two had gone shopping together Oct. 6. or that she had a knife, police said.

A check of Macy’s surveillance footage shows Boore picking out items that are listed on the receipt. The time on the receipt and footage also match up, police said.

The victim told police the knife was about 4 inches long with a blue or purple handle, but a subsequent search of Boore’s home, one that was done with the permission of the owner, didn’t turn up the weapon or the merchandise, police added. Police said a check with UPMC Altoona staff confirmed the victim’s wound was consistent with a knife wound.

Boore faces felony aggravated assault and misdemeanor theft charges and will be arraigned at an undetermined date, police said.
