Hollidaysburg water restrictions lifted
HOLLIDAYSBURG – Authorities have lifted all drinking water restrictions for the Hollidaysburg area, the Altoona Water Authority announced at 7 p.m. Sunday.
The 48-hour advisory, established Friday after a “vague threat” to the area’s water supply, affected tap water users in Hollidaysburg and Blair and Freedom townships.
Local officials and representatives of the state Department of Environmental Protection conducted “extensive field and laboratory testing” on local water and found no contaminants, the authority reported in a news release.
Authority employees worked through the weekend to flush local systems and prepare for the Plane Nine Reservoir’s eventual reopening after the threat forced officials to use alternate water sources.
