Police arrest two after pair of robberies

Altoona police have arrested a pair of suspects after robberies were reported Tuesday morning.

The Altoona Police Department posted “Two in custody!!” on its Facebook page shortly after officers were dispatched to Citizens Bank on the 2000 block of Broad Avenue, then to Family Dollar on the 200 block of East Pleasant Valley Boulevard.

More than a dozen police cars closed in on a suspect at Fifth Street and Second Avenue near Washington-Jefferson Elementary. The suspect was described as a skinny, white male wearing a blue hoodie.

A woman living at the intersection of Fifth Street and Second Avenue said police apprehended two “kids” who were parked in a red Honda in an alley off of Fifth Street. Altoona police and county sheriff cars lined Fifth Street and cleared the area after suspects were taken away at shortly after 10 a.m.
