Mirror project to highlight Blair nonprofits
The people, groups and bonds that form communities will be the focus of a new project coming at the end of the month.
The Mirror will publish its inaugural Blair County Proud section on Monday, Sept. 30.
“We know what a special place Blair County is, and Blair County Proud is an effort to really explore that sentiment and recognize some of the people and organizations that make it that way,” said Raymond M. Eckenrode, Mirror general manager for advertising, said.
Blair County Proud will be divided into four sections, each focusing on a specific part of the county, and will include information on the communities,
groups and people who shape the region.
The sections will be Altoona and Logan Township, Northern Blair County, Central Blair County and the Southern
Blair County/Morrisons Cove area.
As part of that process, the Mirror is seeking submissions from the community on volunteers, nonprofit groups and others who should be included.
Submissions can be made online to the email address bcproud.altoonamirror.com.
There is no charge for submitting information. Submissions must be received by 5 p.m.
“One of our strengths as a newspaper, we hope, is our connection to Blair County and its people,” Mirror Managing Editor Neil Rudel said. “We’ve featured unsung heroes in our Monday Spotlight from all over the region for years, and Blair County Proud will be an extension of that mission.”
