Woman remains in critical care

A Cambria County woman remains in critical condition after a weekend accident that claimed her partner’s life, according to police.

Donna Luke, 65, of Fallentimber was a passenger in a Mitsubishi Lancer driven by Jack Bowling, 76, of Kentucky that pulled out in front of and was broadsided by a Chevrolet Traverse on Saturday morning at Mill Run Road and Route 36, Logan Township police reported.

The SUV, driven by Patricia Rose, 57, of Altoona was traveling east on Route 36 when Bowling pulled out from a stop sign on Mill Run Road at 10:17 a.m., police said. Police said Rose’s speed was approximately 32 mph when the vehicle struck the driver’s side of the Lancer, killing Bowling. Luke was taken to UPMC Altoona by AMED ambulance where she was listed in critical condition, police said.

Investigators were not able to determine why Bowling pulled his car into the path of the SUV, Logan Township police Chief Ron Heller said.

Logan Township police assisted at the scene by Altoona police, as well as Newburg and United volunteer fire companies.
