AG sides with school board on raises
State Auditor General Eugene DePasquale today released an audit that closely aligns with the Altoona Area school board’s investigation of pay raises for administrative employees. Both reports blame new retired Superintendent Dennis Murray for giving employees raises without board approval.
DePasquale is scheduled for a press conference in Altoona at 11:30 a.m. today at the mall Area between the Greater Altoona Career and Technical Center and the Altoona Area High School, 1600 Fifth Ave. That conference could be held at the Altoona Public Library theater depending on the chance of rain.
Board President Ryan Beers learned of the press conference at 10 a.m. and will not able to attend because he was in Williamsport.
“The findings will finally be ready. We will know where to go from here,” he said.
