2-county chase ends with arrest

A two-county, high-speed chase involving a truck-tractor taken from a Duncansville-area company ended Sunday afternoon in Huntingdon County with one individual in custody.

State police at Huntingdon said Leonard Casseo Ellis, 35, of Mount Union was arrested and arraigned on charges of recklessly endangering, receiving stolen property, fleeing and eluding and numerous traffic violations and was lodged in the Huntingdon County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bond.

About 5:20 Sunday, state police at Huntingdon were advised that several police departments from Blair County were pursuing a green International truck tractor eastbound on Route 22.

After the operator refused to stop for troopers, stop sticks were deployed successfully, a state police press release states. The truck was eventually stopped and Ellis was taken into custody on Piney Ridge Road, Smithfield Township, Huntingdon County.

Police were still searching Sunday evening for additional suspects involved in the case, scanner traffic indicated.

A second suspect was detained but later released, Allegheny Township Police Department Sgt. Leo Berg said.

The truck was taken from Burchfield Truck Sales near Duncansville shortly before 4 p.m. Sunday, with the driver heading east on Route 22.

Burchfield representatives declined to comment on the truck theft Sunday evening

Following the chase, scanner reports indicated police were searching for a red Mustang convertible believed to have been driven by an alleged accomplice. Officers discovered the abandoned vehicle in a Logan Town Centre parking lot.
