Penn State students notified after State College robbery

UNIVERSITY PARK — Penn State University alerted Penn State students of an armed robbery Wednesday morning in State College.

The robbery occurred at 10:25 a.m. at Kranich’s Jewelers, 216 E. College Ave., in downtown State College.

Suspects have been described as three black males wearing black hoodies, one carrying a black duffel bag, the university’s website states.

One suspect brandished a silver pistol. No details on their whereabouts are known at this time. The suspects are considered armed and dangerous.

The Borough of State College Police are conducting an ongoing investigation of an armed robbery at Kranich’s Jewelers, Penn State Spokeswoman Jill Shockey said.

A concerted effort by police, local news sources and Penn State’s emergency notification system has provided 911 emergency responders with further suspect information said Shockey.

“It is a safety concern to students. That’s why we issued a timely warning to students’ cell phones, email and electronic messaging boards,” she said.

Anyone with information should call State College police at 234-7150.
