First Commonwealth

to buy Santander branches

First Commonwealth Financial Corp.’s banking subsidiary, First Commonwealth Bank, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire 14 branches located in State College, Lock Haven, Williamsport and Lewisburg, with approximately $525 million of deposits and $120 million of retail and business loans from Santander Bank, N.A.

The acquisition provides First Commonwealth with the opportunity to expand its Pennsylvania footprint by adding about 22,000 retail and small business households.

The transaction is subject to regulatory approval and is expected to close in the third quarter of 2019.

Conemaugh launches program to assist patients

Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center has added a specialized trauma care clinic for geriatric patients called the SMART clinic: Senior Management of Agility and Rehabilitation in Trauma patient.

The patients will be referred through the trauma service line. Any patient over the age of 65 who has had suffered a fall, a motor vehicle collision or balance related injury will be a candidate for the SMART clinic.

SMART clinic has the goal to provide an organized approach to the management of fracture post-operative care, ensure compliance and safety for patients and to provide a means of obtaining osteoporosis screening and medications.

Rita’s Italian Ice sets

grand opening celebrations

Rita’s Italian Ice of Bedford will hold its grand opening celebration May 2-5.

Hours will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. May 2 through 4 and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. May 5.

During the opening, Rita’s of Bedford is supporting Bison Weekend Backpack Program. Guests are encouraged to support the program by dropping off the requested donation items of single serving microwavable meals such as Hormel Compleats, Chef Boyardee, macaroni and cheese, soup and rice.

Rita’s Italian Ice of Altoona in the Pleasant Valley Shopping Center will hold its celebration May 9-12.

Hours will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. May 9 to 11 and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. May 12.

Rita’s of Altoona is supporting the Mountain Lion Backpack Program. Requested donation items include instant noodles, macaroni and cheese and canned pasta.
