Ace opens in Giant Eagle

Giant Eagle Inc. has announced an agreement with Ace Hardware and has opened a “store-within-a-store” at the Giant Eagle supermarket at 1451 Scalp Ave.

The Scalp Avenue supermarket began remodeling this past summer to make way for 7,000 square feet for Ace. Customers can expect everything from hardware to lawn mowers and chainsaws to an expanded selection of items like pest control, household cleaning supplies, batteries, light bulbs and air filters.

Specialty services like paint mixing and key-cutting are also available.

Instacart launches in Altoona

Instacart, the fast-growing retail delivery service whose shoppers hand pick and deliver items from trusted local stores, has expanded into the Altoona.

Altoona area residents can now order from their favorite local retailers, Shop ‘n Save, Sam’s Club, Aldi and CVS Phar-macy, and have their groceries and everyday essentials delivered to their doorsteps in as little as one hour.

Customers go online to www.Instacart .com or open the Instacart mobile app on their smartphone, select their city/store, add items to a virtual cart, then choose a delivery window (within one hour, within two hours or up to five days in advance) and check out.

An Instacart shopper accepts the order on a smartphone, uses the Instacart shopper app to guide them through shopping and then delivers the order to the customer in the designated delivery timeframe.
