Domino’s opening today

The new Domino’s Pizza restaurant between Tyrone Colonial Courtyard and Dollar General on East Pleasant Valley Boulevard will open at 10:30 this morning, according to franchise owner Sheldon Port.

The Tyrone Domino’s includes inside seating for about 25 people, Port said.

The restaurant will employ about 30 full- and part-time employees.

Business hours are 10:30 am. to midnight Sunday through Thursday and 10:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday.

S.P. McCarl receives award

Altoona-based S.P. McCarl & Co. recently won first place in the 2018 Safety Excellence Award at the SMACNA annual convention in San Diego.

The award fell within the 50,0001-100,000 man-hours category. Hundreds of other contractors from around the U.S. applied for the award.

“To have the privilege to walk up on stage and receive the SMACNA 1st place safety award on behalf of our S.P. McCarl employees was a very proud and humbling experience” said Steve Shank, vice president, in a statement.

JARI receives funding

The JARI Growth Fund has been awarded $600,000 from the U.S. Department of Agriculture for a Rural Microentrepre­neur Assistance Program loan product and technical assistance.

The JARI Growth Fund USDA RMAP Loan Product will fund businesses and entrepreneurs throughout the Southern Alleghenies region, which includes Bedford, Blair, Cambria, Fulton, Huntingdon and Somerset Counties.

The JARI Growth Fund USDA RMAP program will fund microloans to help microenterprises start and grow. Loan funds up to $50,000 for small businesses with less than 10 employees are available. The fund will also provide training and technical assistance to microloan borrowers and micro entrepreneurs.
