Rutter’s buys local land

M&G Realty Inc., the real estate company for Rutter’s, has purchased 119.43 acres along East Pleasant Valley Boulevard and Sabbath Rest Road, where Rutter’s plans to construct a store.

A time frame for the project has not been determined, but Pinecroft is not currently on the listing of convenience store locations being built through 2020, said Pam Baldwin, Rutter’s director of advertising and customer engagement.

Rutter’s will not use the entire tract of land.

“The additional acreage is for sale or lease to companies interested in joining us at that location,” Baldwin said.

In November, CHR Corp., Rutter’s parent company, was the highest bidder for a Blair County beer license that was put up for sale by the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board. It bid $115,501 for an Antis Township restaurant license.


Homewood to make changes

Homewood at Martinsburg has begun to renovate the Springfield Unit dining room, located in the health care center.

The dining room will be transformed into a country kitchen with open walls and a warm atmosphere and also will be used for special activities. The project is expected to be complete by Thanksgiving.

An expansion of the Terrace Cafe is planned for 2019. It will be open to the public and will establish a dining venue that the outside community, as well as Homewood residents and guests, can enjoy.

Renovations to the Olive Branch dining venue have already been completed.
