A brief look at hires, promotions, awards and honors

New hires and promotions

Katie Fisher, a certified registered nurse practitioner, has joined Conemaugh Physician Group – Medical Oncology.

She will be responsible for treating outpatients at the Conemaugh Cancer Care Center, Johnstown.

Dr. Damian Clossin, a radiologist, has joined the medical staff at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown.

Clossin joins Cambria Somerset Radiology group and will provide services for inpatients and outpatients treated at Conemaugh.

Awards and honors

T. Michael Price, president and CEO of First Commonwealth Financial Corp., has been elected to the board of directors of the Pennsylvania Bankers Association and will serve as the board’s first vice chairman.

In his role, Price will serve as chairman of the Audit, Budget and Finance Committee and on the Personnel Committee, and he will also represent the association at industry and state bankers’ association meetings throughout the United States.

Course completions and certifications

Tiffany Hoy, agriscience educator at Tyrone Area High School, recently attended a nine-day professional development institute at Carroll County Career and Tech­nology Center in Westminster, Md., to teach the Animal and Plant Biotechnology section of the Curriculum for Agricultural Science Education.

Hoy was selected by NAAE, on behalf of the CASE Initiative, as a recipient of the CASE Pathway Adoption Grant.

Retirements

Dr. Carlos Wiegering, primary care physician and general surgeon, has retired after more than 41 years in private practice in Tyrone.

Wiegering joined the Tyrone Hospital medical staff in 1977. He first provided services as an emergency department physician at Tyrone Hospital. Several years later, he started his private practice and offered general medical and general surgery services.
