Aldi store to reopen

Aldi will reopen its renovated Johnstown store at 475 Galleria Drive on Wednesday.

The store is part of a $1.9 billion initiative to remodel and expand more than 1,300 Aldi stores nationwide by the end of 2020.

The store will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.

Epilepsy event scheduled

Conemaugh Health System is introducing telemedicine for transition of youth and young adults with epilepsy from pediatric to adult health care, assessment, diagnosis and treatment.

Conemaugh will host “Understanding Epilepsy and Improving Access to Care using Technology” from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Conemaugh East Hills Outpatient Center, Community Rooms A and B, 1450 Scalp Ave., Johnstown.

The event is co-hosted by the Epilepsy Foundation Western /Central Pennsylvania, Pediatric Care Specialists of Johnstown and UCB.

Italian market opens

Alto Markets Italian Foods is now open for business in the old Alto Glass building, 5933 Sixth Ave.

Alto Markets, is a small specialty grocery store with a focus on Italian foods, Travis Seymore, general manager, said.

Alto Markets has a full deli of Boar’s Head and Italian meats and cheeses and offers sandwiches, subs, soups and two hot dinners per day, among other things.

Business hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.

Food safety certification set

Penn State Extension will be offering a ServSafe Food Safety Certification Training course from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Aug. 6 and from 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 13 with the certification exam at 1 p.m. that day at the Downtown Penn State Altoona Devorris Center, 1431 12th Ave.

Cost for the 2-day certification course is $185.

Elaine Smith, Penn State extension educator, will be the instructor.
