Attorney David P. Andrews of Altoona has been hired by Juniata College in Huntingdon to serve as general counsel for the college and coach of Juniata’s new mock trial team.

Andrews also will serve as a professor teaching courses in human resources, organizational leadership, and other areas of his expertise.

Jonah Salyards has joined Stiffler McGraw as a project designer.

Salyards, who first started with Stiffler McGraw as a civil engineering intern during summer 2017, will be working in the Transportation Division, out of the Hollidaysburg office, working on projects such as bridge and culvert designs, bridge inspections, permitting and streetscape enhancement projects.

Awards and honors

Thomas W. Orr, a certified public accountant from Altoona, was named to the Committee on Professional Ethics of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants for a three-year term.

Orr is a manager at Young Oakes Brown & Co. PC in Altoona, specializing in audit, accounting and tax.

H. Amos Goodall Jr., a certified elder law attorney with Steinbacher, Goodall & Yurchak in State College, has been named president of the National Elder Law Foundation.

Goodall, who brings extensive legal knowledge and passion for assisting the elderly community into his new leadership role, will serve a two-year term.

Patrick Kirby, a crew member at McDonald’s of Cresson, was recently awarded a McDonald’s Crew Scholarship Award.

Kirby is among several local McDonald’s restaurant employees selected to receive this honor for outstanding achievements both academically and in the workplace.

Course completions and certifications

Eric Banks, an employee of Stiffler McGraw since 2013, has earned his professional engineering license.

The license allows Banks to prepare, sign, seal and submit engineering plans and drawings for public and private clients, as well as municipalities and authorities.


Amber Gordon, a graduate of Altoona Area High School, was recently selected to work as a VIP assistant at the Journey and Def Leppard concert in Pittsburgh.

As a VIP assistant, Gordon helped turn a conference room into a Journey VIP Reception Lounge.

A recent graduate of Point Park University in Pittsburgh, she is currently a sales assistant for the Sheraton Pittsburgh Hotel at Station Square. Gordon is the daughter of Polly Gordon of Altoona.
