Conemaugh Health System to rebuild Cresson office
CRESSON — Conemaugh Health System has plans to tear down a carwash and rebuild a Second Street office in Cresson, the borough’s council president announced.
At Monday’s meeting, President Michael Zabinsky Jr. said he and other borough officials met with a Conemaugh engineer last week, and he outlined the health system’s plans.
“It was just an informal get together about what they are going to do and how they were going to do it,” Zabinsky said.
Conemaugh officials are in the process of purchasing a car wash and adjacent building on the corner of Second Street and Liberty Avenue, he said.
The car wash is next door to an existing Conemaugh Physician Group building at 815 Second St.
“They want to tear down the buildings … and eliminate the car wash,” Zabinsky said.
According to Zabinsky, health system officials plan to construct a new building on the site near Liberty Avenue, also creating a new parking lot that will end near the neighboring First National Bank.
Specific details about the building’s dimensions and cost were not available Wednesday, when a Conemaugh spokeswoman said there was “probably nothing to release” at this time.
Zabinsky suggested the same.
“It’s probably going to be a couple months before they get back to us with some final sketches and drawings of it,” he said. “Everything will be on hold until then.”
