New hires and promotions

Bryce D. Harshberger, vice president and trust officer, is joining the Somerset Trust Company’s staff in Bedford.

Harshberger brings more than 40 years of banking experience to the bank’s Trust Department.

In addition to his expertise in estate planning and settlement, retirement, power of attorney and court appointed guardianship services, he will also provide personal trust management administration and professional investment management services to the bank.

Awards and honors

Michael J. Wagner, of Wagner & Finn Attorneys at Law P.C., has been named as a 2018 Pennsylvania Super Lawyer.

Five percent of Pennsylvania attorneys receive this honor each year. Wagner has been selected as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer every year since 2006.

Course completions and certifications

Magisterial District Judge Steven D. Jackson was again certified for service as a member of Pennsylvania’s Unified Judicial System after successful completion of continuing education work.

The program is designed to ensure that magisterial district judges remain current in a variety of legal topics and management techniques required to fairly adjudicate cases and effectively supervise a district court office.

Retirements

Rita Swanson will retire from Tyrone Hospital on May 31 after 35 years of service.

She will retire from the position of unit secretary for Tyrone Hospital’s anesthesia and cardiology clinics and the Diabetes Center.

Miscellaneous

Eric Casanave has become a shareholder in the ownership of Stiffler McGraw.

Casanave joined Stiffler McGraw’s Municipal Engineering Division in 2012 as a senior project engineer and manager of the company’s operations for the Bradford County office located in Towanda.

He is responsible for project design and management for municipal water and sewer projects, project funding management and serving as the engineer for municipal and authority clients in Bradford, Sullivan, Blair and McKean counties.
